Languages

The languages have more or less rolled into my life when there was an opportunity to learn some words. Within a Japanese company, my general manager allowed me to sit next to a Japanese employee to speak Japanese for thirty minutes per day. When working in a factory in Portugal, it was great to learn Portuguese. From my Croatian roots, I already spoke the basic words of this slavic language. Eventhough I haven't spoken it after my mother didn't go to Croatia anymore at the beginning of the 90s, the language has still been in my system.

To maintain all these languages takes a lot of time and effort because if the language is not close to your own, one forgets it quickly over the months, but you pick it up faster when you already have a basis. It's great to try to speak to people in their own language. Even if it doesn't go that smooth, many people will respect and appreciate you for trying it. And not to mention the fun you will have.

Over time, I have created Excel sheets to store language findings I had when daily learning the languages from other people. Eventually after 20 years the vocabulary became pretty big. So below here is this 'project' to map many different laguages and categorize the words. Unfortunately I cannot guarantee that the content is entirely correct because some words were not correctly translated as a verb or noun from google translate, so it is an ongoing learning process in my life.
